A tragic case out of DeKalb County, Georgia, has left a family grieving and a community searching for answers after a pregnant mother and her unborn child were shot and killed inside a Decatur apartment complex.

Authorities have arrested 26-year-old Devin Anthony in connection with the deaths of 23-year-old Shakiya Pridgen and her unborn son. The suspect now faces multiple felony charges, including malice murder, feticide, and aggravated assault with intent to murder.

According to investigators, the deadly shooting occurred Tuesday morning at the Peppertree Apartments on Peppertree Circle in Decatur. Emergency responders were called to the scene, but despite efforts to save them, both Pridgen and her unborn child lost their lives.

Authorities arrested Devin Anthony, 26, following a multiagency manhunt. He remains jailed without bond on charges related to the deaths of Shakiya Pridgen and her unborn child.

Law enforcement agencies immediately launched a search for the suspect. The investigation quickly expanded into a multiagency effort involving the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and the United States Marshals Service.

Anthony was subsequently booked into the DeKalb County Jail, where he remains held without bond.
