As Juneteenth approaches, millions of Americans prepare to celebrate a day that represents freedom, perseverance, culture, and the enduring strength of a people who helped shape the very foundation of this nation.
While the Emancipation Proclamation was issued in 1863, many enslaved African Americans in Texas remained unaware of their freedom for more than two years. It wasn't until June 19, 1865, when Union troops arrived in Galveston, Texas, and announced that enslaved people were finally free, that the promise of emancipation reached them.
That historic day became known as Juneteenth.
Today, Juneteenth is far more than a historical date. It is a celebration of freedom, achievement, resilience, community, and the countless contributions African Americans have made throughout history and continue to make every day.

A Legacy Built Through Strength
Black history is American history.
It is the story of men and women who overcame extraordinary obstacles while creating businesses, families, communities, art, music, inventions, educational institutions, and opportunities that would impact generations to come.
It is the story of dreamers, leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs, educators, activists, artists, and everyday people who refused to allow their circumstances to define their futures.
Juneteenth serves as a reminder of both the struggles that were endured and the victories that were achieved. It reminds us that progress often comes through perseverance, sacrifice, courage, and hope.
The Global Influence of Black Culture

Happy Juneteenth from The Chat with Miss Hollywood.
The influence of African American culture can be seen across the globe.
For decades, people of every race, nationality, and background have been inspired by contributions rooted in Black culture. From jazz, blues, gospel, rhythm and blues, hip-hop, and soul music to fashion, sports, dance, beauty, art, language, and entertainment, the impact of Black creativity and innovation continues to shape the world around us.
Many of today's most popular trends, styles, and cultural movements have roots that can be traced back to African American communities.
Whether people realize it or not, Black culture has influenced generations of artists, musicians, athletes, entrepreneurs, content creators, and cultural leaders around the world.
Juneteenth gives us an opportunity to celebrate not only freedom but also the tremendous cultural contributions that continue to inspire people everywhere.
Celebrating Black Excellence
One of the most beautiful aspects of Juneteenth is the opportunity to celebrate Black excellence.
Black excellence is found in boardrooms, classrooms, hospitals, courtrooms, recording studios, churches, athletic fields, small businesses, community organizations, and homes across America.
It is found in those who break barriers, create opportunities, uplift communities, and inspire future generations.
It is found in the entrepreneur opening a new business.
It is found in the teacher educating young minds.
It is found in the parent sacrificing to create a better future for their children.
It is found in every person who continues to rise despite adversity.
Juneteenth reminds us that excellence exists in many forms and deserves to be celebrated.
Supporting Black-Owned Businesses
Supporting Black-Owned Businesses
One of the most meaningful ways to honor Juneteenth is by supporting Black-owned businesses.
Behind every successful Black-owned business is often a story of determination, sacrifice, innovation, and a commitment to creating opportunities where few previously existed. Supporting these businesses helps circulate dollars within communities, create jobs, encourage entrepreneurship, and build generational wealth that can impact families for decades to come.
A powerful example of this entrepreneurial spirit can be found in Black and Mobile, a delivery service founded by twin brothers David and Aaron Cabello. What began as a vision to support Black-owned restaurants and businesses has grown into a company dedicated to connecting consumers with Black entrepreneurs while strengthening local economies.
Their mission extends beyond simply delivering food. Black and Mobile was created to help increase visibility for Black-owned businesses, create employment opportunities, and encourage consumers to intentionally invest in communities that have historically faced barriers to economic growth.

The success of businesses like Black and Mobile demonstrates the power of entrepreneurship, innovation, and community support. By creating a platform that helps Black-owned businesses reach more customers, David and Aaron have shown how business ownership can become a vehicle for positive change and economic empowerment.
Supporting Black-owned businesses isn't just about making a purchase. It is about helping build sustainable businesses, creating opportunities for future generations, and ensuring that communities continue to thrive.
Every dollar spent can make a difference.
Every referral can create an opportunity.
Every act of support helps strengthen a foundation for future entrepreneurs to build upon.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us not only honor the sacrifices of those who came before us but also support the businesses, dreamers, and innovators who are helping shape the future.
Businesses like Black and Mobile remind us that excellence, vision, and community investment continue to move our culture forward.
The Power of Community
Throughout history, community has been one of the greatest sources of strength.
Families, churches, mentors, educators, neighbors, and local leaders have played critical roles in helping generations overcome challenges and pursue opportunities.
That spirit of togetherness remains alive today.
It can be seen in community celebrations, family gatherings, cultural festivals, educational events, volunteer efforts, and countless acts of kindness that bring people together.
Juneteenth is a reminder that progress is often made when communities stand together, support one another, and invest in the future.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us honor the past while continuing to build a brighter future.
Let us remember those who came before us and the sacrifices they made.
Let us celebrate the achievements that have been earned through perseverance and determination.
Let us continue creating opportunities, supporting our communities, educating future generations, and recognizing the value that every person brings to our society.
Most importantly, let us celebrate freedom, culture, resilience, and hope.
Because Juneteenth is not only a reflection of history.
It is a celebration of how far we've come and a reminder of what is possible when people refuse to give up.
Happy Juneteenth from The Chat with Miss Hollywood
Today we celebrate freedom.
We celebrate culture.
We celebrate resilience.
We celebrate excellence.
And we celebrate the generations whose strength, courage, and determination helped shape the world we live in today.
Happy Juneteenth.

Music has always been at the heart of our history, our struggles, our victories, and our hope for the future. From spirituals and gospel to jazz, soul, R&B, hip-hop, and beyond, Black music has inspired generations around the world while giving voice to the pursuit of freedom, equality, and justice.
As we celebrate Juneteenth, I invite you to listen to a clip of my original song, "Stand Up." The song is a reminder that progress is often achieved when ordinary people find the courage to stand up for what is right, speak their truth, and continue pushing forward despite adversity.
In honor of Black history, Black culture, Black music, and the generations who fought for fairness, opportunity, and equality, this song is dedicated to those who came before us, those making a difference today, and those who will carry the torch into the future.
