His family confirmed that Davis passed away peacefully at his home in Manhattan surrounded by loved ones.

Known throughout the industry as a visionary with an extraordinary ear for talent, he played a major role in launching or revitalizing the careers of artists including Whitney Houston, Bruce Springsteen, Aretha Franklin, Janis Joplin, Santana, Alicia Keys, Barry Manilow, Patti Smith, and many others.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Davis originally pursued a career in law before entering the music business. He eventually rose through the ranks at Columbia Records, becoming president of the label and helping usher in a new era of popular music. His willingness to embrace emerging artists and evolving musical trends transformed the industry and changed the careers of countless performers.
